Galilee - Education

From pre-school to high school and beyond, the Galilee offers the full range of educational opportunities that you would expect to find in a thriving, rapidly expanding region. Municipalities invest a great deal in education, to provide students with the best possible equipment and educational programs. Community centers offer a wide variety of cultural and sports activities for all ages.

The Galilee offers a unique learning environment, particularly when it comes to opportunities to learn more about other cultures and lifestyles, as well as learning to work together and promote multicultural harmony.

The Western Galilee is home of a unique Arab-Jewish school, Hand in Hand, where Arab and Jewish children learn together. Hand in Hand’s mission is to “spark revolutionary change in Israeli education and society by establishing a new educational paradigm: integrated, bilingual schools where Jewish and Arab children and their families learn and grow together.” The Galilee branch of Hand in Hand was opened in 1998. The Western Galilee College  located near Acco, provides the opportunity for residents of the western Galilee to gain a post-high school education without having to travel to the major universities. The multicultural campus reflects the social and cultural composition of the region. The College works to “spread the message of cooperation,” and “regularly cooperates with Palestinian organizations and conducts management and training courses for Palestinian officials and institutions. Some 1,200 participants from more than 90 Palestinian governmental and non-governmental offices have participated in programs at the College.” To read more about how the College’s activities in this area, read this Israel 21c article.

The Jordan Valley College situated near the Sea of Galilee, offers degrees and professional diplomas in everything from arts and social science to technology and tourism. The BA programs in management, social sciences, and Jewish studies operate under the supervision of Bar Ilan University while its school of engineering and technology provides recognized diplomas for technicians and practical engineers.

The Ort Braude College, located in Karmiel, offers a wide range of studies and training for careers in the latest technologies.
